Hundreds of people gathered in Halifax's Grand Parade to take in the final concert Saturday evening for the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Sunday marks the end of the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Most people were at the concert to see the headlining act City and Colour.

Megan Hobrecker, 17, of Halifax, said she's taken in several shows at the venue over the past two weeks.

"I love having the free concerts, I've been going to quite a few of them," said Hobrecker. "I don't get to go to a lot of concerts around here because I'm not 19, but it's really great having the all-ages concerts."

Many athletes and coaches also celebrated the end of the games in downtown Halifax on Saturday night.

The final rounds of badminton closed out the competition started Sunday — with Ontario team taking gold in the mixed competition. Nova Scotia finished in sixth place after losing to Manitoba 3-1.

New Brunswick led the Maritime medal count with 16, followed by Nova Scotia with 12 and P.E.I. with six.

The closing ceremony began at 1 p.m. AT Sunday afternoon at the Halifax Metro Centre.
