CBC Nova Scotia is nominated for 7 Atlantic Journalism Awards this year, including Best TV Newscast and Best Radio Newscast.

Finalists in the competition were announced Thursday.

The Nova Scotia newsroom is nominated for Breaking News coverage in the television and radio categories. The radio nomination singles out Phonse Jessome for his work on the sinking of HMS Bounty.

The Atlantic Journalism Awards recognize excellence in print and broadcast reporting.

The Awards will be handed out in Halifax on May 11.
