Car crashes through wall of Sydney Credit Union
An 86-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after she drove her car into the side of the Sydney Credit Union on Townsend Street Thursday afternoon.
Police say the driver was apparently leaving the parking lot behind the building around 3 p.m. when she clipped two other cars and embedded the front of her car into the side of the building facing Bentinck Street.
A credit union employee had left her office just minutes before the car crashed through the wall, knocking over a cabinet onto the desk.
The building has been evacuated until its structural soundness can be established. It will be closed for the rest of the day.
The driver of the vehicle suffered bruises to one of her arms.
This is the second time in several weeks that a driver in Sydney found themselves driving off-road. In July, a woman drove her car into one of the ponds in Wentworth Park after her flip-flop got caught on the gas pedal.
