2 people airlifted to hospital after crash near Kejimkujik National Park

The crash closed a section of Highway 8 between Maitland Bridge and Kempt for several hours.

Two people were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning near Kejimkujik National Park closed part of Highway 8 for several hours.

RCMP said the crash occurred just after 8 a.m. in Maitland Bridge, N.S., when the vehicle left the road and ended up overturned in a ditch.

The driver and one of the passengers were sent to hospital, while a third person in the vehicle wasn't injured.

Highway 8 between Maitland Bridge and Kempt was closed after the crash, but was reopened late Thursday afternoon.

RCMP continue to investigate.
