Lloyd MacDonald, a colourful businessman from Sydney, died at his home on Saturday.

Macdonald was the founder of the MacDonald auto group. He was also known as a gifted musician, having released his first album of fiddle tunes last year.

MacDonald branded himself as ‘Tokyo’ Lloyd, and produced several commercials using the persona.

"Lloyd MacDonald did so much for this community," said Owen Fitzgerald, past president of the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce. "He was an amazing business person that inspired a lot of entrepreneurs locally."

MacDonald’s community involvement landed him a spot in the Cape Breton Business Hall of Fame.

"The Chamber was so proud to be able to honour someone like that, such a good person. It’s amazing that someone like that, who can be that determined, can be so imaginative. He’ll be sadly missed by our community."

Fitzgerald said Macdonald was a mentor and friend to many people.
