C.B. police members charged with obstruction
A police officer and special constable with the Cape Breton Regional Police department are accused of interfering with the execution of police duties.
Const. Ron Williams and Special Const. Todd MacKay are both charged with obstruction of justice and breach of public trust.
The police department announced the charges on Tuesday, saying Halifax Regional Police helped to investigate an incident that happened in May. No other details were given.
Williams, an 11-year veteran of the force, was suspended with pay on Aug. 3. He is due in Sydney provincial court on Oct. 24.
MacKay worked in the police lockup for eight years. He was suspended with pay on July 6 and is due in court on Oct. 26.
