Boy, 5, dies after crash near Halifax
A five-year-old boy has died after a two-vehicle crash outside of Halifax on Wednesday night, according to police.
Investigators said the father was travelling with his two sons in a Ford Escape near Timberlea Parkway and Brunello Boulevard when a 34-year-old driver lost control of his truck and hit their vehicle.
Police were called to the scene around 7 p.m.
The five-year-old was taken to the IWK Health Centre and pronounced dead on arrival. His eight-year-old brother was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the father was not injured. Five males travelling in the truck were also not injured.
Officers said the road was slippery at the time and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and called in an accident reconstructionist.
