Bayswater Beach, a seaside beach in Lunenburg County, is still closed because of high bacteria counts in the ocean and a nearby stream.

The provincial lifeguarding service said a stream that flows into the ocean is contaminated with E.coli.

The Department of Health and Wellness has now collected three sets of tests for analysis. The first set was collected on Wednesday, the second on Friday, and the third set was collected Monday morning.

Results from last week's tests were sent to the lifeguard service on Saturday, and they showed that bacteria are still high in both the ocean and the stream.

Depending on the results of Monday’s test, the medical officer of health will have to decide when the beach can reopen.

In the meantime, lifeguards are on watch from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. warning people not to swim at Bayswater at all.

This is the second time the beach has been closed this summer because of high levels of bacteria.
