Thieves helped themselves to an early Christmas present Saturday by stealing a high-end car out of a Halifax parking lot.

Police were called when an owner discovered his expensive Audi A6 was missing on Christmas Eve. The 2012 models start at $58,000, though the stolen car's model year is not known.

It was taken from a parking lot on Mumford Road in the city's west end.

Police located the car Monday on Queen Street in the city centre. Two men were arrested, one aged 19 and the other 20. Both face charges of possessing stolen property.
