Arson charge laid in Jubilee Road apartment fire

Halifax police have made an arrest in a suspected arson case in the city's south end on Friday night.

Halifax police have made an arrest in a suspected arson case in the city’s south end on Friday night.

Police were called to a disturbance at an apartment building on Jubilee Road around 6 p.m. When they arrived at the top flat the person inside refused to open the door.

They were then told someone had left through the back door and a chase ensued.

After they arrested the suspect, officers noticed smoke coming from one of the apartments.

Fire crews responded and extinguished the flames.

A 22-year-old from Chester is facing charges of theft, break and enter and arson.
