Amherst RCMP recover body of drowning victim

A 28-year-old man drowned in Brookdale Tuesday morning.

RCMP from Amherst say they have recovered the body of a man who drowned in Pumping Station Pond in Brookdale Tuesday morning.

The police said the 28-year-old from Pugwash jumped into the water with friends. They received the call for help around 10 a.m.

Town officials closed the pumping station and the RCMP Underwater Recover Team found the body just after 8 p.m.

The man's identity has not been released.
