A 36-year-old Trenton man has been charged after a weekend stabbing near New Glasgow, say police.

A 36-year-old Trenton man has been charged after a weekend stabbing near New Glasgow, say police.

The man, who was arrested on Sunday night after a warrant was executed at a residence on High Street, was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in New Glasgow provincial court on Monday.

New Glasgow Police responded to a call at High Street in Trenton at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday and found a man suffering from serious stab wounds.

The victim, also 36 years old, was taken to Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow in stable condition and was later released.
