A collision involving two motorcycles and a car sent three people to hospital Saturday.

RCMP in Lunenburg County and paramedics were called to the crash site on Highway 3 at about 7:15 p.m.

RCMP said it appears a motorcycle carrying two people hit a car that had stopped in front of it. The motorcycle then landed on the other side of the road and collided with an oncoming motorcycle.

All three motorcycle riders were taken to South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. One of the riders on the first motorcycle was later airlifted to Halifax.

The lone rider on the second motorcycle was a 74-year-old man from Petite Riviere. There was no word on the ages or hometowns of the other two.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

The investigation continues.
