A second fisherman has been found dead along the shore near Parrsboro, N.S., Saturday, RCMP confirmed late Saturday afternoon.
The all-terrain vehicles used by two fishermen were found mid-afternoon Saturday, and the second body was found in the same area.
One man was found dead Saturday morning at about 8 a.m. and the second was found dead late Saturday afternoon along the shore.
"We regret to inform people that the second male was also found deceased," said RCMP Const. Dal Hutchinson.
The two fishermen who were on ATVs pulling trailers went out into the Minas Basin during low tide late Friday afternoon to check their lobster traps..
A Natural Resources helicopter was added to the search and rescue effort on Saturday afternoon.
Tides in the area can rise fast and by as much as almost 14 metres. There were two high tides after the men went missing.
Hutchinson said weather conditions were cold and windy for about 40 people who helped with the search.
"We want to thank ground search and rescue from Springhill and Pugwash, and the Parrsboro fire department for assistance," Hutchinson said. "And for the public — there was a significant outpouring of offering to assist in any way, shape or form."
