2 women arrested after Halifax assault
Halifax Regional Police arrested two women and are searching for a third after a man was assaulted and held overnight Saturday.
Police said they responded to a 911 call from North Street around 12:40 p.m. Sunday and were met by a 54-year-old man.
He told them he had met three women Saturday evening and invited them to his residence. The women tried to take money from him and beat him up, police said. The women detained the man overnight and he managed to escape Sunday.
The victim suffered serious bruises and lacerations and was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Although the injuries were substantial, they are not considered life-threatening," Staff Sgt. Darrell Gaudet said. "We're waiting to get a full statement from him with more detail."
Gaudet said police arrested a 28-year-old woman and a 46-year-old woman at the man's house and are looking for a third woman.
Gaudet cautioned people against bringing strangers home. "You have to be streetwise and be aware of who you bring into your dwelling," he said.
