Ground Search and Rescue was activated

Two women who did not return home after going tubing on a river in Cape Breton have been located after a search in the woods Tuesday night, say police.

RCMP said the 31-year-old and 26-year-old women left to go tubing near the Lower River Inhabitants river around suppertime.

"They were supposed to return around 8 o'clock. Obviously it started getting dark so the family contacted us. The decision was made to activate Ground Search and Rescue," said RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae.

The search team, along with RCMP officers, found the women uninjured in the woods near the river after 11 p.m.
