2 men rescued after boat overturns

Two men were rescued this afternoon after their small boat overturned in St. Margarets Bay.

Two men were rescued Monday afternoon after their small boat overturned in St. Margarets Bay.

The Hammonds Plains men, aged 50 and 63, were thrown into the water when their three-metre open fishing boat capsized near Boutiliers Point just before 4 p.m.

Both men were wearing life vests, according to RCMP. (CBC)

One man was picked up by a passing sailboat. The other man was rescued by someone who rowed out to get him.

Both men, who were wearing life vests at the time, were taken to the Cobequid Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre for observation.

Other than being wet and cold, both men are in good condition, according to RCMP.
