2 men charged in downtown Halifax shooting

Two men from North Preston are facing charges after a shooting early Saturday morning in the downtown bar section of Halifax.

Two men from North Preston are facing charges after a shooting early Saturday morning in the downtown bar section of Halifax, police say. 

Halifax Regional Police report that witnesses told them several shots were fired in the area of Grafton and Carmichael streets around 3 a.m. No one was injured.

The two men were arrested on Creighton Street after fleeing the downtown area, police said. A firearm was also found in the car.

A third man who fled the scene and was picked up on Upper Water Street is believed to be the intended victim, police said.

A 24-year-old man will face attempted murder charges, as well as numerous weapons related charges. A 28-year-old man will face multiple weapons related charges.

Both accused are being held in custody pending a court appearance.
