10k full time jobs disappear in N.S.
The number of people working full time jobs in Nova Scotia is down sharply from May 2010 to May 2011, according to Statistics Canada.
Nova Scotia lost 10,000 full time jobs. There was a gain in part time work, but not enough to cover the other losses. In total, there was a loss of 7,300 positions.
The unemployment rate in May was 9.0 per cent — a slight improvement. Statistics Canada says in May of 2011 the province added 1,400 jobs. 800 were part-time positions. 600 were full-time jobs.
