Notorious gangster executed in Vancouver nightclub

The notorious gang leader Bindy Johal was shot at a Vancouver nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning. He died a few hours later.

Johal, 25, was shot while he was on the dance floor at the Palladium Nightclub in downtown Vancouver. There were about 300 people in the club at the time.

Johal and his associate Peter Gill were acquitted of the murder of brothers Ron and Jim Dosanjh. That trial led to the case against juror Gillian Guess. He was to stand trial in the new year on kidnapping charges.

Recently several of Johal's associates have been shot or killed. Police say it's clear he was the intended target. Investigators are now interviewing about 20 witnesses.

Anne Drennan of the Vancouver police says there was a lot of confusion at the club after the shooting and shooter was able to escape.

Johal was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital and died about four hours after the shooting.
