RCMP in Yellowknife say there's no reason for the public to feel unsafe in the city after a 30-year-old woman was found unconscious in an alley Saturday morning.

Faye Kara Grandjambe was rushed to hospital around 7:30 that morning, where she was pronounced dead.

RCMP and the Chief Coroner are still investigating the cause of death.

"At this point there was nothing that would point to a reason for the public to be at risk.,” says RCMP Constable Elenore Sturko.

“That being said, it's always important to keep your own personal safety in mind, but there's no reason we know of at this time that should cause the public any concern for their safety."

Autopsy results were unable to determine the cause of Grandjambe’s death.

Officials are now waiting for toxicology results.

Sturko says police are trying to get information to the public as quickly as possible.

"Word travels fast when there is an incident in our town. It's important for people to realize though, that not all your information you're going to hear on Facebook or at the local coffee shop is going to be accurate. Quick information isn't always based on facts."

Sturko says RCMP can appear to be releasing information slowly, but she says that's because they're waiting to make sure information from the investigation is accurate.
