Taloyoak fire deaths deemed murder-suicide
RCMP say mother set fire
RCMP say the deaths of a mother and her two sons in a fire in Taloyoak, Nunavut, earlier this month was a murder-suicide.
They said Sarah Aiyout died in the fire along with her two sons, Victor Jr. Aiyout and Jordee Aiyout, as a result of Sarah's actions.
Police said evidence gathered by several investigators, including fire investigation specialists from the RCMP and the Nunavut government confirmed the fire was set deliberately and no suspects were being sought.
The fire occurred in a suite of a four-plex apartment building on Feb. 2.
According to a press release, the police investigation will continue at the residence in the spring when the building is free of ice and safe to enter.
RCMP added the Government of Nunavut was sending mental health resources to the community.
