Plane makes emergency landing in Rankin Inlet
Flight with passengers and cargo was en route from Meadowbank mine to Montreal
A Nolinor Aviation flight made an emergency landing in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, Thursday afternoon after a sensor went off mid-flight indicating an emergency.
The Boeing 737-200 was en route from the Meadowbank Gold Mine near Baker Lake to Montreal, with passengers and cargo.
All crew members and passengers are safe.
Serge Bernier, the director of security and logistics for Nolinor, says he's still not sure what exactly happened during the flight.
"We are just trying to find out why this light went on," he said.
The aircraft is being assessed on the ground in Rankin Inlet.
