A Kenn Borek Twin Otter plane went off the runway after it landed in Kimmirut, Nunavut, on Tuesday.

An RCMP officer in Kimmirut says a tire blew out on the plane, which forced it to slide into the snowbank on one side of the runway. The officer said the RCMP will release more information soon.

Nav Canada wrote in a notice that the runway has been closed since 6:40 p.m. ET and will open at about 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

The plane is still stuck.

Kenn Borek Air declined to comment on the incident at this time.
