Nunavut man drowns after falling from raft near Chesterfield Inlet

Chesterfield Inlet RCMP have recovered a man's body from First Lake. The say the man fell from his raft and drowned on his way to an egg picking location on the lake.

RCMP say they have recovered the body of a man who drowned in First Lake, near Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut. (CBC)

Chesterfield Inlet RCMP say they have found the body of man who drowned in First Lake. RCMP did not release the man's name.

In a press release Friday, police said that on Wednesday they responded to a request for assistance to find a person who fell into the water while rafting to an egg picking spot on First Lake, approximately three kilometres from the community.

Police say the man's body was found with assistance from community members.

No foul play is suspected in the man's death.
