Ice road trucker one step closer to diamond hunting
Alex Debogorski's exploration project at Drybones Bay passes environmental impact review
Reality television star Alex Debogorski is one step closer to exploring for diamonds in the N.W.T.
The Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board has approved Debogorski's proposal to explore for diamonds along the shoreline of Drybones Bay.
The site is 50 kilometres southeast of Yellowknife.
Over five years the ice road trucker wants to drill up to 10 holes for exploration.
The review board says the exploration won't have any negative impact on the environment.
The proposal is now in the hands of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Minister John Duncan.
From there a land-use permit has to be approved for drilling to go ahead.
