2 teen hunters found safe after walking away from stuck ATV
Naujaat youth found themselves stranded while hunting caribou
Two teens from Naujaat, Nunavut, have been found safe after a hunting trip ended with their ATV getting stuck in mud.
"I'm feeling great that I'm home and feeling thankful that my partner was found today," says Luke Angotialuk.
Angotialuk and Albert Amautinaur travelled outside of Naujaat to hunt caribou on Monday night. Their ATV got stuck in mud and the two lost each other as they tried to walk home.
Searchers found Angotialuk on Tuesday.
Amautinaur was found this afternoon about 6.5 kilometres away from Naujaat, says Clayton Croucher, the hamlet's interim senior administrative officer.
"He's in good shape, but hungry," adds Croucher, "He was walking away from the community, going the wrong way,"
Naujaat changed its name from Repulse Bay on July 2.
