No charges in N.S. mercy-killing claim

A Liverpool, N.S., man who told police he had killed his terminally ill wife won't face any charges.

A Liverpool, N.S., man who told police he had killed his terminally ill wife won't face any charges.

Stephan Bolton, 56, spoke to media and then to police last month, saying he had given his wife, Barbara Jollimore, 59, a lethal injection in January.

Jollimore had Stage 4 breast cancer and her family said that is what killed her.

Sgt. Brigdit Leger, speaking for the RCMP, said Monday that officers had interviewed Bolton and reviewed the case.

"Through the evidence we have gathered throughout the investigation it was determined that this death was not the result of any criminal wrongdoing," she said. "The Bolton family has been aware of the findings of this investigation."

Leger said the investigation is complete.
