Vehicle torched in east end of St. John's

The RNC is appealing for public help in catching the culprit behind a fire that destroyed a vehicle in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is appealing for public help in catching the culprit behind a fire that destroyed a vehicle early Wednesday in St. John's.

Police were told after midnight of a vehicle fire on Newfoundland Court, off Newfoundland Drive in the city's east end.

"The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire, which is suspicious in nature," the RNC said in a statement Wednesday.

The RNC's fire investigation unit was called in, as well as members of the force's identification unit.

Police asked anyone with information that could help the investigation to contact the Constabulary directly, or to go through the anonymous Crime Stoppers service.
