Unlicenced driver owing more than $28K in fines also charged with impairment
RNC impounded vehicle, accused to appear in court Sunday
A man owing more than $28,000 in outstanding fines has been scheduled for a court appearance on Sunday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a tip Saturday night of a possible impaired driver in the Elizabeth Avenue area of St. John's.
Officers located the vehicle, and arrested and charged the driver, 48.
Police said the accused was charged with impaired driving, operating without a valid driver's licence and valid insurance, failure to transfer ownership and operating an unregistered vehicle.
The vehicle was impounded.
