Trout River search now a recovery mission: RCMP
The search for a missing swimmer from western Newfoundland took a more sombre tone on Wednesday afternoon, when police said their operation was now a recovery mission.
Trout River resident Albert Brake, 47, was last seen near a local beach on Sunday.
An RCMP dive team is headed to the area to search local waters over the coming days.
Family members said that Brake was a strong swimmer and would often swim very far and hold on to the buoys when he needed a rest, said CBC reporter Colleen Connors. Some volunteers involved in the search said Brake was sometimes a bit of a daredevil.
RCMP said he was reported overdue on Tuesday morning. During a four-hour search on Tuesday, volunteers found Brake's clothing and wallet.
The Canadian Coast Guard, Parks Canada and the Bonne Bay Ground Search and Rescue team have helped in the search.
