Susan Sullivan will not seek re-election
Newfoundland and Labrador cabinet minister Susan Sullivan announced late Friday afternoon she would not be running in the upcoming provincial election.
Sullivan, minister of education and early childhood development, made the announcement at a news conference alongside family and supporters in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Sullivan said the decision was made after long deliberation.
When asked two weeks ago if Sullivan would seek re-election in the upcoming election, she said she had not yet made a decision.
In April, the provincial government announced Sullivan would be on medical leave for several weeks. She returned to the job in August.
The Progressive Conservative politician was first elected in the district of Grand Falls-Windsor-Buchans in 2007.
