Police say a home in the centre-city area of St. John's was shot up Thursday night, but nobody was injured.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrived in full force, with four different units responding to a call of shots fired on New Pennywell Road.

Shortly after arriving, police said, they were able to confirm "there were a number of shots fired." One person was inside the house at the time of the shooting.

The RNC's major crimes unit is investigating. They have yet to confirm whether it was a drive-by shooting, or if the shooter was on foot.

"This is believed to be a targeted act and members of the general public are not at risk," read an overnight report issued by police.

The house is a townhouse in a residential neighbourhood. Police have not confirmed whether it was a drive-by shooting. (Ted Dillon/CBC)
