A video of a group of moose together on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula is dazzling thousands who have viewed or shared it on social media.

Clifford Doran was out around dawn on Aug. 16, when he saw the animals off in the distance near the Shoal Point area of his hometown of Trepassey — which is located on the southeast corner of the Avalon.

Clifford Doran says this photo and corresponding video of several moose near the Shoal Point area of Trepassey has garnered thousands of views on social media. (Clifford Doran)

Doran told CBC he knew the scene was unusual, given the beautiful colours and the fact that so many moose could be seen as silhouettes against the hazy morning sky.

So, using his high-definition SLR camera, he managed to get a video and a few photos.

However, Doran said he didn't expect the reaction to be so great, with more than 2,000 views within the first few days he shared it on Facebook, and a few people already getting in touch to ask for large prints of the photos.
