Incident involving RCMP in Clarenville safely resolved

The RCMP says a situation that began on Huntley Drive in Clarenville on Sunday morning has been resolved safely.

The RCMP have confirmed that an incident on Huntley Drive in Clarenville, N.L., that began Sunday morning has now been safely resolved.

Members of the RCMP and the Clarenville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, and shortly after 12:30 p.m., police tweeted to ask residents in the immediate area to remain inside and for the public to avoid the area until further notice.

One resident also reported seeing an ambulance in the area at the time.

In a statement shortly before 9:30 p.m.Sunday, the RCMP said the situation had been resolved and residents could begin normal activities.

Police also thanked the public for its co-operation.
