A notice from the City of St. John's states it has received a discretionary use application from Piatto Pizzaeria to open up shop in a portion of the former Canadian Tire building on Elizabeth Avenue.
The application said the restaurant would have an outdoor eating area on the New Cove Road side of the building, in addition to 2,990 square feet of indoor restaurant space.
If approved, the second restaurant would be open seven days a week.

The application can be viewed at city hall and any submissions to the application must be made by Jan. 26.
Piatto has locations in Moncton, Halifax, Cavendish and Charlottetown, in addition to the Duckworth Street restaurant.
The Baine Johnston Corporation, which owns Leon's Furniture, purchased the building at 60 Elizabeth Avenue in July 2015.
Prior to the purchase, the building was vacant for nearly a year after Canadian Tire shut it down in order to open a new location on Hebron Way.
