Two men in their 20s are in custody after a home invasion in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Police say around 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, two men, with their faces covered, broke into a home and used a weapon to assault a 63-year-old man. The victim was sent to hospital with serious injuries.

Within hours, the RCMP arrested 21-year-old Dwayne Hiscock. On Monday, they arrested 20-year-old Corey Killam.

"There is some indication that one of the men was known to the victim," said Corporal Chad Norman.

"We believe that there were only two people involved in this incident and we've made two arrests already. So, I see no reason for public concern at this time."

Police believe the men planned to steal prescription drugs.

Both men appeared in court in Grand Falls-Windsor Tuesday, facing numerous charges including robbery and assault with a weapon.

The two will stay in custody until their next court appearance on March 28th.
