Newfoundlander swims from Canada to France
Jordan Wood took an extreme swim from Canada to France on Friday, crossing the seven-kilometre stretch from Little Green Island, N.L. to St-Pierre-Miquelon, France.
Wood, from Grand Bank and living in California, said people were surprised when he told them his plan.
He encountered a few grey seals and one humpback whale on his journey.
"The whale kind of went under me and I briefly saw him, and then he was jumping and diving and putting his tail up in the air," Wood said. "It was a nice treat."
The swim took a total of two-and-a-half hours. Wood's father and a friend joined him for the final kilometre.
