New judges named to N.L. courts

The Newfoundland and Labrador government has appointed three new provincial court judges.

The Newfoundland and Labrador government has appointed three new provincial court judges.

Michael Madden, a Crown prosecutor in St. John's, will fill a controversial vacancy in the central Newfoundland community of Gander where there have been complaints about a backlog of cases.

Jacqueline Brazil, a provincial Crown lawyer, has been assigned to a position in Harbour Grace in Conception Bay North, while St. John's lawyer Lois Skanes has been appointed to the bench in the city.

The new judges will start in their new positions in mid-February.
