An RCMP officer in Labrador, who's in trouble with the law, was released on bail on Monday.

Ian James Kaulback, 26, was arrested on Friday for allegedly luring a child under the age of 16 over the internet.

Court documents show that Kaulback allegedly committed the crime sometime between February 1st and 8th in Hopedale — the community where he was working. He has also served in other parts of the province, including Twillingate.

The Mounties called in the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to lead the investigation to ensure transparency, according to an RCMP spokesperson.

Kaulback was released on several conditions, including staying in Nova Scotia where he is from, and reporting regularly to the RCMP.

He's also been placed on a curfew, forbidden from using the internet and banned from being around children.
