Judy Foote's portfolio as the minister of Public Services and Procurement is growing.

On Thursday, she learned that it will also include Canada Post.

The head of the mail service will now report to Foote instead of new Minister of Transportation Marc Garneau.

At the campaign launch for Liberal candidate Mark Browne in Placentia West-Bellevue, Foote said that she expects to receive more information on the change when she gets back to Ottawa.

"I'm looking forward to a comprehensive briefing on that on Monday," said Foote.

In October, Canada Post announced that effective Nov. 1, it was halting the conversion of door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes.

"We've made a promise and Canada Post has said they will not continue installing mailboxes."

"I expect that that's done and door-to-door mail delivery will resume or continue for those areas where mailboxes have not been installed," said Foote.
