IceCaps tame Tigers to continue home winning streak

Charles Hudon was one of three St John's skaters to record a goal and an assist as the IceCaps held on to defeat the visiting Bridgeport Sound Tigers 5-4 on Saturday in American Hockey League play.

Christian Thomas and Bud Holloway joined Hudon's point totals while Daniel Carr and Nikita Scherbak rounded out the offence for the IceCaps (5-1-1), who have earned at least one point in five straight games.

Joe Whitney led the Sound Tigers (5-2-0) offensively with a goal and a helper. Bracken Kearns, Taylor Beck and Scott Mayfield added the others.

Zachary Fucale made 29 saves to pick up the win for Montreal's AHL affiliate. Stephon Williams started in net for the Islanders' farm team but was yanked after allowing five goals on 19 shots. Christopher Gibson stopped all seven shots he faced in 23:51 of relief.

St. John's went 0 for 5 on the power play while Bridgeport scored twice on six chances with the man advantage.
