Heavy ice continues to get in the way of the ferry crossing from the island of Newfoundland to Labrador.
The Apollo — which handles the Strait of Belle Isle run — was once again forced to turn around Tuesday afternoon because of the ice conditions, and return to St. Barbe on the Northern Peninsula.
The vessel left the community earlier in the day heading toward Blanc Sablon.
A notice posted on Labrador Marine's website indicated that the boat was unable to make it to Blanc Sablon because of ice conditions.
The ferry is expected to try again Wednesday morning, potentially with the assistance of an icebreaker.
There is a backlog of passengers, as some people have been waiting with the boat since last Thursday.
