Goulds home under renovation extensively damaged by fire
A home under renovations in the St. John's neighbourhood of Goulds was extensively damaged by fire Wednesday afternoon.
St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) Platoon Chief Brian Tucker said a call came in at 2 p.m. about a structure fire on the Main Road in Goulds.
"Upon arrival the place was fully charged with smoke," Tucker said. "We gained entry to [for] an interior attack and extinguished the fire."
The basement received the most damage, Tucker said. The first floor had also been fire damaged.
The entire structure has smoke damage.
"The biggest challenge was getting here. Of course, the weather today is not conducive to driving, but everything worked out fine."
About 16 firefighters from from SJRFD responded, along with members of the Goulds volunteer fire department.
