A couple who runs a firewood business in Torbay are looking to give some warmth to a person in need this winter through an online contest.

Luke Janes, who runs Firewood Factory NL with his wife Kaylen, says the business is seeking nominations for people in need of a fresh truckload of wood for the holidays.

"You can basically nominate anybody. Your friends, family, somebody you know in need of a little bit of warmth in their home … just give us a little background story of why they should have it," he said.

Nominations have already far exceeded the family's expectations, said Janes, and the stories that have been shared have made it difficult to choose a winner.

If you know somebody who might be deserving of a free bundle of wood, you can email Firewood Factory with the subject line "Warm Hearts" by Dec. 17.

"We'll pick a winner and we'll get the load of wood out before Christmas," said Janes.
