Firearm allegedly pointed at caretaker in Flat Bay argument

A man was cutting firewood on a piece of land when he got into an argument with the caretaker from a neighbouring property and allegedly pointed his hunting rifle at him.

Bay St. George RCMP are investigating an incident that saw a man allegedly point a firearm at a property caretaker in Flat Bay.

Police were called to the area on Flat Bay Brook Road around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

A man from nearby Stephenville Crossing was in Flat Bay cutting firewood on a piece of land, when he got into a dispute with the caretaker of a neighbouring property.

The 60-year-old man allegedly pointed his hunting rifle at the caretaker, but no shots were fired and no one was injured, police said. 

The man has been charged with uttering threats and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He was held for a court appearance Friday.
