4 homeless after fire ravages homes in Margaree

Fire completely destroyed two homes and a shed in the community of Margaree Tuesday morning, just outside Port aux Basques, leaving four people homeless.

Four people are homeless after a Tuesday morning fire completely destroyed two homes and a shed in the community of Margaree, just outside Port aux Basques.

Police say everyone was able to get out of the homes unharmed, but a firefighter was taken to hospital and is being treated for smoke inhalation.

The couples that lived in each house are now staying with relatives in the community, according to the Canadian Red Cross.

One of the couples is in their 50s, while the other is in their 70s.

RCMP say they believe the blaze started in the shed. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Red Cross is helping to replace clothing, food and other basics.
