Atlantic Canada internet restored after outages hit Bell Aliant

Bell Aliant says it has restored Fibre OP internet service in Atlantic Canada, after many people in the region woke up Wednesday morning to discover widespread outages.

Bell Aliant had earlier told CBC News that there were outages affecting some FibreOP customers in Atlantic Canada. The company said it was working to "restore service as quickly as possible."
Several people contacted CBC Newfoundland and Labrador throughout the morning to say their Bell Aliant internet service wasn't functioning, and social media posts from around Atlantic Canada suggested there was an issue.
The website canadianoutages.com, which flags areas experiencing service problems, showed widespread outages over the Avalon Peninsula and across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
