Ball hockey world championships begin in St. John's
Over 700 players, coaches on 26 teams from Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and North America
St. John's is hosting ball hockey teams from around the globe as the World Ball Hockey Championship tournament kicks off Sunday.
The International Street & Ball Hockey Federation is hosting the competition, which runs until June 9.
The senior men's teams start the contest Sunday as France faces the United States at 2 p.m. at the Jack Byrne arena in Torbay, starting the A-pool series.
Italy will face Israel in the series starter for the B-pool men's team at 4 p.m. at the Glacier.
Women's teams begin their series on June 4, with Czech Republic facing Greece at 8:30 a.m. at the Glacier.
Canada's men's team plays their first game against Germany at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jack Byrne arena, and the women's team faces the United Kingdom on Tuesday at the Glacier arena in Mount Pearl at 2:30 p.m.
