Ambulance stolen during Marystown emergency call

Police are looking for a thief who stole an ambulance in Marystown while its crew were in a house helping a sick person.
The fatal crash occured around 2:45 a.m. Saturday and involved a single vehicle. (CBC/Google )

Police are looking for a thief who stole an ambulance in Marystown while its paramedics were in a house helping a sick person early Sunday.

RCMP said in a statement that the ambulance "was stolen from the driveway while paramedics entered the residence to assist a patient in distress."

A second ambulance had to be called to the Creston Boulevard home to take the patient to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre.

The stolen vehicle was located a little later, several kilometres away.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the force or the anonymous Crime Stoppers service.
